We work so hard all of the time. In fact, we are really good at work, hard work. But what are we seeking…more work or more wisdom? Thinking too hard. Working too hard. We can’t know it all, and we are wearing ourselves out trying to get there.
I am reminded of this verse from the wise King Solomon.
So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way you will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives you under the sun. Ecclesiastes 8:15
Forget About It!
I have the work thing down but not the play. Doing things just to have fun is something that has to be learned. On a recent trip, I learned when you have fun with people, they quickly become friends. From friendships, wisdom blossoms.
A Challenge for You
We will grow much closer to those important in our lives if we learn how to play together. We will learn together and enjoy each other. Sure, those deep, self-reflective, full-of-wisdom conversations will happen, but only as a background to the fun.
I’ve decided twice a year I need to get away with Kathy. She daily helps me in so many ways. I must make time for fun for us. Maybe this is a weekend getaway. Maybe just a day together. I don’t know. It doesn’t matter where we go, but we have to do it together.
This will make me a better investor, entrepreneur, spouse, and parent. I challenge you to join me.
